Wellington United Methodist Fellowship first met on a Sunday in October 2007, but it began long before that. For years the folks at First United Methodist Church Fort Collins talked and dreamed about starting a church north of Fort Collins to serve communities between Fort Collins and Cheyenne. In 2007, the time was finally right as Rev. Jim Cowell and Rev. Warren McConnell, both retired UMC clergy, agreed to volunteer their time and leadership. They joined their hands, hearts, and spirits with other "pioneers" from First Church Fort Collins. Along with a core group of folks from Wellington and the surrounding area they began building something new.
Since that first meeting, Wellington Fellowship has continued to grow. In December 2010, the Peaks and Plains District of the Rocky Mountain Conference of the UMC appointed a full-time pastor to Wellington United Methodist Fellowship recognizing our growth and nurturing our future.
August 1, 2010 was our first Sunday in our new location - 8251 Wellington Blvd. We added another chapter to our story!
We continue to foster small groups such as United Methodist Men which meets monthly as does our Ladies Day Out. Every month, we devote our time and talents to a service project. We've got fun and fellowship planned for all ages, including youth and children. With continued support and prayer from First United Methodist Church Fort Collins, Wellington Fellowship continues to grow in love and faith. What's next for Wellington Fellowship?
Come and find out -- catch the pioneer spirit and help build something new!
